We started building the Leo house in November of '05 and completed construction in about six months. The house was entirely "stick framed" (no trusses) using engineered lumber and Advantech plywood subfloors. While building the house, we noticed some strong gusts of wind from the SW and suggested that high-wind shingles be used on that face. The Leos wanted to go with low-maintenance exterior finishes and we installed pre-painted Hardi-plank cement board siding and trim. There is a lovely view of Camel's Hump from the deck and from many of the windows on that side of the house.
We are pleased to report that these homeowners are happy "repeat customers." We built this house in 2005 and it was sold about four years later. The new homeowners have since hired us many times for renovations that are slowly transforming the house into their dream home.
In 2011, we added the wraparound porch and garage roof overhang and replaced the fiberglass doors with natural wood. In 2012, we built out the bonus room above the garage. In 2013, we remodeled the living room by adding a wood burning stove with massive stone surround, post and beam trim, and miscellaneous other trim accents. We have heard rumors that the kitchen is next!
